The Energy Trust of Oregon (ETO) provides a range of rebates to business consumers who make changes to their lighting systems to make them more energy efficient. It has been estimated that commercial buildings account for more than a third of all energy use in the state so by installing more efficient lighting systems (such as high-efficiency LED lighting, for example) significant savings in energy use could be achieved.
The purpose of ETO lighting rebates is to encourage businesses to make these changes to achieve energy and cost savings. The scheme includes incentives to help a business lower the cost of undertaking an upgrade or modernization of their lighting infrastructure. If a business is eligible for the rebate it can submit documentation for planned changes and seek pre-approval after which it can proceed with the planned upgrade and then be eligible for the rebate.
