Samana is one of the 32 provinces that make up the Dominican republic. It is known worldwide for its majestic landscapes and beautiful white sand beaches and is regarded as one of the most beautiful locations in the Caribbean. The mountains that surround the area are full of coconut palms (in fact, it lays claim to the highest concentration of these palms in the world).
Las Terrenas Samana is a town located on the northeast coast and boasts hotels, clubs, restaurants and shopping centers catering to the tourist market. The town was founded in 1946 by farmers and fishermen that settled there. Since then the quaint fishermen’s cabins have been converted into charming bars, restaurants and shops. It includes the Bahia Principe the Portillo of Las Terrenas, a major five star tourist resort. It is a popular tourist destination for Dominicans and foreign tourists.
