Wifi is now widely used as a method for connecting to the internet. Wifi security, however, is inherently weak and you should take steps to ensure that your wireless signals are not being intercepted by malicious actors.
The most common type of wifi security problems are that their security protocols are relatively easy to crack and that it is subject to ‘man in the middle’ attacks where the signal is intercepted and read while it is being transmitted to the wireless router.
To protect against these attacks you should only ever perform sensitive tasks, that involve personal or financial information for example, over a trusted wireless network. Another option is to adopt encryption so that if a signal is intercepted it cannot be read by the attacker. There are other techniques that have been adopted by manufacturers (such as SSID hiding and static IP addressing) to help improve the security of wireless communications between computer devices.
