One of the most exciting methods of future transport that has been proposed is flying cars. Autonomous aerial vehicles (AAV) are a future transport project that is becoming a reality. Successful testing and demonstration flights have been carried out.
While AAVs are similar to drones in some respects, they carry passengers rather than cargo. Most concepts of an aerial vehicle rely on vertical takeoff and landing by using rotors and require no runway. Such vehicles are able to land almost anywhere and can pick up passengers and deliver them to their destination by the most direct route.
The world’s first air taxi based on this technology will be showcased in Qatar for the FIFA World Cup in 2022. This implementation will rely on 5G connectivity in the flight area and will be controlled through a command center that is part of a smart city implementation.
