Can Hypnotherapy Be Used To Treat Anxiety?

Hypnotherapy is a form of treatment in which a person is guided into a trance state in which they are guided to address and change certain thoughts and behaviors. Research has shown that hypnotherapy is effective in dealing with the stress and fear that are associated with anxiety and can also be used to help sufferers cope with the symptoms of panic disorder.

While undergoing hypnotherapy for anxiety a person is guided by the therapist to bring focus on negative thoughts that lead to anxiety in a bid to help cope with specific symptoms and overcome limiting behaviours. Under hypnosis the patient is asked to focus their attention on their anxiety and is asked to bring awareness to the emotions and thoughts attached with it which are then dealt with by the hypnotherapist by telling the patient they are safe and in control, for example.
