Can Hypnotherapy Be Used For Anxiety?

Hypnotherapy involves relaxing a patient and focusing their mind in order to reach the subconscious which is often involved in behavior and decision making and can reveal a patient’s underlying issues for particular symptoms and problems they are experiencing.

While hypnotherapy is not as widely known or used as psychotherapy and medication in treating anxiety, scientists and researchers have found that it can have significant effects on mental health issues such as PTSD, anxiety and depression among others.

Hypnotherapy for anxiety involves giving a patient posthypnotic suggestions that help them deal with their anxiety symptoms. The hypnotic induction process helps patients to reach a relaxed state, such as that found in meditation, where they are more open to addressing their phobias and anxieties and is often used in combination with other cognitive behavioral therapy techniques to help overcome anxiety attacks.
